What is a doula?

A doula is someone who provides emotional and practical support during the precious time of pregnancy, birth and the early post natal period.

My approach – and beliefs

I see birth as a family event – and giving birth as a transformative and intense rites of passage for all women. 

As your doula, I may provide counsel, comforts, advocacy and consistent and continuous care for you to have the most natural, positive and powerful birth possible, one that you are in peace (and in love) with.

Because every woman has different needs and preferences, our time together will be organic and centred on you. I can offer a holistic range of support which could include:

• Single sessions (antenatal or postnatal) to discuss, in a safe space, anything you wish. This can be related to how to plan your care, how to accommodate your baby’s needs and any other topic that you’d like to talk to me about, being that practical or emotional or mental support you need on your journey.
• Advice and advocacy whilst navigating the medicalised model of birth within mainstream maternity care, upholding and protecting your choices and assisting you in making informed and empowered decisions about your body, baby and birth preferences
• Signposting you with the information you need to feel centred, confident to make informed evidence-based decisions about the right birth plan for you and feel intuitively connected to the needs of your body and baby
• Ritual and ceremony that respect the natural physiology of birth and your cultural preferences
• Attendance at your birth, as a gentle presence, protecting your process and birthing space and advocating for your choices and your body’s needs
• Postnatal loving care and breastfeeding support for you and baby.
  

Packages

Every family is different, and support packages are highly personalised, tailored to meet the specific needs of you, baby and birth partner (if you have one). It may include:

• 3+ antenatal sessions (60 – 90 min each)
• Unlimited support through call and text (up to 2 weeks after birth)
• Being on call from 38 weeks
• Attendance at your birth
• A visit after birth

Fees are agreed depending on your chosen package of care. Payment plans are available on request.
